Counsellor / Special Educator Job Vacancy | DIPS INSTITUTIONS, Jalandhar, Punjab

DIPS INSTITUTIONS is inviting applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the positions of Counsellor and Special Educator. Job Responsibilities

Counsellor

  • Provide individual and group counselling to students to support their emotional, behavioural, academic, and social well-being.
  • Guide students in stress management, conflict resolution, career awareness, life skills, and personal development.
  • Identify students requiring additional emotional or psychological support and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
  • Conduct counselling sessions, awareness programmes, workshops, and parent interaction sessions.
  • Maintain confidential counselling records and prepare reports as required.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school leadership to support students' overall development.

Special Educator

  • Identify and assess students with diverse learning needs and provide appropriate educational support.
  • Prepare and implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) based on students' learning requirements.
  • Adapt lesson plans, teaching strategies, classroom activities, and assessments to support inclusive education.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to ensure effective learning support for students with special educational needs.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records of interventions and developmental milestones.
  • Guide teachers and parents on strategies to support students with learning disabilities and developmental challenges.

General Responsibilities

  • Promote an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Maintain professional ethics, confidentiality, and accurate documentation.
  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, parent-teacher meetings, workshops, school events, and training programmes.
  • Coordinate with teachers, management, and parents to ensure students receive appropriate academic and emotional support.
  • Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the school management from time to time.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of child psychology, counselling techniques, inclusive education, and student development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality while working with students and families.
  • Strong observational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and inclusive classroom practices.
  • Good communication skills in English and Hindi.
  • Strong organisational, documentation, and time management skills.
  • Professional attitude with empathy, patience, and a commitment to student well-being.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university.
  • B.Ed. is mandatory.
  • CTET/STET qualification will be preferred.
  • Additional qualifications or certifications in Guidance & Counselling, Psychology, Special Education, Rehabilitation, or Inclusive Education will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Counsellor, Special Educator, Inclusive Education Teacher, or in a similar role in a recognised educational institution.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: ₹30,000 – ₹40,000 per month, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Benefits and other facilities will be provided as per the school's policies.
