Job Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the library and ensure efficient administration of all library services.
• Develop, organise, classify, catalogue, and maintain books, journals, periodicals, e-resources, research databases, and digital collections.
• Supervise library staff and coordinate library operations to ensure smooth functioning and high-quality user services.
• Assist students, faculty members, and researchers in locating academic resources, reference materials, and digital databases.
• Promote reading habits, research support services, information literacy, and library orientation programmes.
• Maintain accession registers, circulation records, inventory, cataloguing systems, and digital library databases.
• Oversee procurement, acquisition, preservation, and stock verification of library resources.
• Manage library automation software, institutional repositories, and digital library platforms.
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and library best practices.
• Coordinate with academic departments to support curriculum development, teaching, learning, and research activities.
• Organise book exhibitions, author interactions, workshops, reading campaigns, and other library events.
• Participate in institutional meetings, training programmes, academic initiatives, and administrative activities.
• Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the university administration.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of library science, information management, cataloguing, classification systems, and digital library operations.
• Proficiency in library automation software, institutional repositories, MS Office, and digital resource management.
• Excellent organisational, documentation, and record management skills.
• Strong leadership, supervisory, and team management abilities (especially for the Chief Librarian role).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and Hindi.
• Ability to support academic research, information literacy, and knowledge management initiatives.
• Professional attitude with a commitment to academic excellence and continuous learning.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Master's Degree from a recognised university.
• B.Lib. and/or M.Lib. (Library Science) is mandatory.
• Additional qualifications in Information Science, Digital Library Management, or Research Support will be an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in library administration or academic library management.
• Leadership and supervisory experience will be preferred for the Chief Librarian position.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary: ₹30,000 – ₹45,000 per month, depending on qualifications, position, and experience.
• Benefits and other facilities will be provided as per the university's policies.
