Job Summary

The Art and Craft Teacher will be responsible for fostering creativity, imagination, and artistic skills among students through engaging art and craft activities. The teacher should create a stimulating learning environment that encourages self-expression, develops fine motor skills, and promotes appreciation for different art forms.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging art and craft lessons according to the school curriculum and students’ age groups.

Teach various art techniques, including drawing, painting, colouring, paper craft, origami, collage-making, clay modelling, and other creative activities.

Encourage students to explore their creativity, imagination, and individual artistic abilities.

Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, and creative activities aligned with academic objectives.

Organise and display students’ artwork on classroom boards, school corridors, and exhibition spaces.

Prepare students for art competitions, exhibitions, school functions, festivals, and other cultural events.

Maintain and manage art materials, tools, and classroom resources responsibly.

Ensure the safe and appropriate use of art and craft materials by students.

Assess students’ participation, creativity, progress, and artistic development.

Integrate art and craft activities with other subjects and school projects wherever appropriate.

Maintain discipline and encourage teamwork, cooperation, and respect for others’ creative work.

Coordinate with fellow teachers and school management for art-related activities and events.

Maintain records of students’ work, progress, and participation in art activities.

Follow school policies, professional standards, and child safeguarding guidelines.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Fine Arts, Applied Arts, Visual Arts, or a relevant field.

A recognised certification in art and craft or relevant teacher training will be an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies

Strong artistic, creative, and craft-making skills.

Good classroom management and communication skills.

Ability to engage students of different age groups.

Patience, enthusiasm, and a student-centred approach.

Knowledge of different art techniques, materials, and creative teaching methods.

Ability to plan and organise exhibitions, competitions, and school events.

Good teamwork, time management, and organisational skills.

Experience

Prior teaching experience in a school or educational institution is preferred.

Freshers with strong artistic skills and a passion for teaching may also apply.
