Areas of Responsibility

• Manage the daily functioning and overall organisation of the school library.

• Maintain and update books, magazines, journals and other educational resources.

• Classify, catalogue and arrange library materials for easy access.

• Manage book issue and return procedures and maintain accurate records.

• Assist students and teachers in finding suitable books and reference materials.

• Encourage reading habits through reading sessions and library activities.

• Monitor library inventory and recommend new books and learning resources.

• Maintain a clean, quiet and welcoming environment for readers.

• Introduce students to effective research and information-searching techniques.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science (B.Lib.Sc. / M.Lib.Sc.) or an equivalent relevant qualification.

• Knowledge of library organisation, cataloguing and classification systems.

• Basic computer skills and familiarity with digital library tools.

• Good communication and record-management abilities.

• Interest in working with children and promoting reading.

• Previous experience in a school library will be an advantage.
